What is Lagos Life?
Lagos Life is a free browser life-simulation game set in a virtual Lagos, Nigeria. You play a character (a “Sim”) living in a shared city alongside other players, and you spend your time on everyday things: working, paying rent, moving around, and socialising.
A browser game, not an app
There is nothing to install. The game runs in Safari or Chrome on a phone or a computer, which is a large part of why it spreads quickly through links shared on social platforms.
A shared world
Rather than a single-player sandbox, Lagos Life is built as one city for everyone. You can run into other real players, and many of the systems — elections, map places, homes — are shared rather than private.
What it is often compared to
Players frequently compare the concept with The Sims, because both revolve around managing a character’s needs, home and career. Lagos Life leans harder into its setting, borrowing transport, slang and city rituals as its defining flavour.
Setting is the hook: the game feels familiar to anyone who knows the city, and intriguing to anyone who does not.
Why it spread so fast
- No app store or download — a single link is enough.
- Local humour tied to transport fares, rent and power cuts.
- Shareable starting conditions that players screenshot and argue about.
